Dekopon is a hybrid between Kiyomi and Ponkan, it is Kumamoto’s symbol citrus fruit and also the first choice as a high-quality fruit gift in Japan. It is highly recognisable with its tip pointing out, resembling the shape of a pear. Only those that meet the standards of 13 Brix in sugar content and 1% or less in citric acid can be given the title “Dekopon”. It is also easy to peel and has no seeds, which makes it easy to eat and more popular amongst other varieties.
